The Pipo X8 could be a TV Box, Mini PC or a Tablet. Either way, it’s an all in one multimedia device. This small box houses an 64 bit Intel Atom Bay Trail Processor with 2 GB RAM and 32/64 GB internal storage, expandable storage is also supported via TF Card Support. What’s set’s it apart from other Mini PC’s is the 7 inch IPS display with a 720p HD resolution. Which means, you can either use the built-in display or output it via Standard HDMI Port available (1080p). The X8 supports both Android 4.4 KitKat and Windows 8.1 with easy switching.
The X8 supports multiple ports including 4x standard USB 2.0 slots, Ethernet LAN Port and Standard HDMI Port etc… Furthermore, there is no built in battery, all are powered via the 12v power supply port.
Using the native 720p HD Display, the device is able to perform smoothly, however, output to external monitors with 1080p resolution, slowdowns are now noticeable. This is especially evident on gaming, as well as overusing the Web Browser. Probably because of the limited 2 GB RAM underneath, the X8 probably works best for light load applications and casual gaming.
Overall, Pipo X8 (http://www.tinydeal.com/pipo-x8-7-dual-boot-z3736f-2gb-64gb-desktop-tablet-mini-pc-p-151940.html ) indeed strives to be a master of all trades. But to be frank, it’s not that powerful, the Atom processor is frugal at best and would be best used for non-resource intensive task like word applications etc… Gaming would also be limited especially when cranked on the highest resolution. But for those who want a low power system, light usage, and casual gaming, then the X8 is holds its value.
